It’s an awesome time to be an indie game studio! Here at Red Meat Games we’ve been hard at work on some upcoming VR projects as well as making sure we get into as many conventions and conferences as possible to ensure everyone has a chance to check out VR and learn more about our amazing studio. We’ve got some big things happening in the coming months but for now, let’s take a look at what we’re doing now.

Montréal Comic Con

This past weekend we attended Montréal Comic Con in the heart of Québec’s largest city. Over 56,000 people piled into the Palais des congrès de Montréal to check out the show. Red Meat Games was there in the indie games section along with some other exciting and talented studios. We demoed our upcoming superhero VR game First Impact: Rise of a Hero for over 300 fans, most of whom had never tried VR before. It was wonderful to see their faces light up when they put on the headset and experienced a virtual reality for the very first time. We had some people laugh uncontrollably as they walked around with their legs wobbly. We had someone flap their arms as they flew pretending to be a bird. It was great to see so many people fall in love with VR and really affirmed our decision to develop for VR. It was an awesome weekend all around!

Bloxiq for VR

In conjunction with Blot Interactive, we’re working on porting Bloxiq to the HTC Vive in addition to other VR platforms. Bloxiq takes the concept of colour matching and brings it into the third dimension. Players have to connect blocks of the same colour on 3D Rubik’s cube-esque surface by rotating rows on the vertical and horizontal axes. Bloxiq translates beautifully into virtual reality. The environments are gorgeous and when the player is given 360° of movement in these levels and the result is jaw-dropping. We can’t wait to share Bloxiq with everyone and give more information soon!

What’s Next…

We’re not slowing down after Montréal Comic Con. In fact, we’ll be all over in the coming months to get our VR projects into the hands of as many people as possible. Some of our team will be attending Casual Connect in San Francisco next week to demo First Impact to our peers. For more information on our upcoming appearances check out the events section of our site!

That’s all for now! Be sure to follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram @RedMeatGames to keep up with everything and remember… Red Meat!!!
